High-achieving doesn't mean you're okay - it just means you're good at looking like it.
Therapy for high-achieving women navigating anxiety, perfectionism, and the patterns they can't seem to think their way out of.
Virtual sessions with a psychologist licensed in Colorado, Washington, and all 43 PSYPACT States
Hi, I'm Amanda Etienne - a psychologist based virtually in Colorado, Washington, and all PSYPACT states.
If you're high-achieving, chronically over-functioning, and quietly wondering why your life feels harder than it looks on paper - you're in the right place.
I specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma therapy for women who are bright, capable, and incredibly empathetic. The kind of woman who gets things done, puts others first, and has spent years doing everything right. And yet something still feels off - not broken exactly, but not quite right either.
When they first reach out, my clients are managing color-coded calendars, hitting every deadline, and saying the right things in every room they walk into. They're praised for being composed and put-together. Privately, they feel like one unexpected emotion could knock everything off balance.
They've tried yoga, journaling, and mindfulness - and somehow turned self-care into another thing to do perfectly.
Many of them don't use the word trauma to describe their past. But when we start working together, it usually becomes clear that some of what they learned early — about relationships, safety, and what they had to be to be loved — is still running in the background. Quietly shaping everything. This often includes relational trauma, sexual trauma, and the long-term effects of growing up as the responsible one — the gifted kid, the over-functioner, the one who had it together so nobody worried about her.
In therapy, we slow that down. We look at what's actually yours - your real desires, your actual needs, your own voice - versus everything you've internalized about who you're supposed to be. The goal isn't to lower your standards. It's to stop living entirely in service of them.
I work with women navigating anxiety, overthinking, self-doubt, perfectionism, relationship patterns, and trauma - including women who aren't sure therapy is "bad enough" to justify asking for help. It is. You don't have to be in crisis to deserve support.
If you're ready to stop performing and start feeling at home in your life, I'd love to work with you. I offer virtual therapy sessions for women in Colorado, Washington, and all PSYPACT states.
